There's no convincing Draco – he lolls on the sofa like a cat, kept and pampered. "Bring a curry home tonight, will you?"

"Aren't you going to do something useful, Draco?"

He beckons Harry, one hand lazy in the air, and unbuttons Harry's trousers. "You'll be late for work."

Jumping away from him, Harry buttons his trousers.

"You wanted me to be useful."

"I want you to do something useful with your life, Draco – get a job, get a life, clean the cat hair off the sofa, anything."

Harry slams the door, and Draco calls after him, "Don't forget the curry."

Draco extended his hand to Potter, offering him a flute of champagne. "Pleasant party."

Harry accepted it, and their fingers touched, Harry's rough-cut fingernails grazing Draco's skin. "Isn't it?"

"Look –"

"I appreciate the sacrifices you made for us in the war, Draco."

The sacrifices that Draco had made for him had not been enough.

Potter's mask, world-savior and gallant Gryffindor, shone without a crack. "I regret our unfortunate beginnings. Would you consider –"

Draco took his hand, sighing when Potter turned back to the Weasleys. Ardent, vibrant, real – this was Potter with his true friends.

It would take time.
