In a corridor, Snape reprimanded his Slytherins and Harry listened around the corner.

In the library, where Madam Pince insisted on whispers – Snape spoke, his voice echoing through the shelves to Harry's hiding place.

At staff meetings, at meals, Snape's voice resonated along Harry's spine, tickling his nerves.

Harry lingered after dinner, smiling at him. "Professor Potter," Snape said, and stalked away. Harry drank in Snape's voice, savoring it – hoarding it.
